DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday afternoon July 22\, rain or shine\, for the Circle of Protection\, an interfaith prayer vigil\, co-produced by Friends of Buckingham County\, Virginia and Water is Life. Protect It\, to protect Buckingham County (and all of us!) from the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the proposed Union Hill ACP Compressor Station. \nThe Sunday\, July 22 Circle of Protection is shaping up very very fine. With music by Emily Robey Morrison and the Yes Brothers\, opening prayers by Reverends Ray McKenzie and Virginia Agee and by Interfaith leader\, Kira Young\, story by Caroline Bray of Virginia Student Environmental Coalition and more\, we intend once again to lift up protection for the Union Hill community and for Buckingham County against the very real threats of the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the proposed Union Hill compressor station. Join us as we lift our spirits\, inform our minds\, and choose our right actions. With potluck and guest speaker to follow. 1-3 pm. \nThe vigils are open air on the grounds of Union Hill Baptist Church\, 1496 Union Hill Road (State Route 663)\, Buckingham\, VA 23921.  Indoor pot luck and speaker following in the church basement. The Circle of Protection is a collaboration of Friends of Buckingham\, Union Hill/Grove Baptist Church\, Yogaville\, VSEC and Water is life. SUMMARY:Candlelight Vigil: McAuliffe\, See the Light. Stop the Pipelines
DESCRIPTION:Now that the hard-fought election is over\, it’s time to get back to work and stop the Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley Pipelines once and for all. \nWe need to show Governor McAuliffe — and recently elected Ralph Northam — that we’re not going to back down. We need to make them see the light. \nThe events over the next couple of weeks could be our final chance to stop these monstrous pipelines that threaten our climate\, water\, and most vulnerable communities. \nJoin us Tuesday\, November 14 at 5:00 pm for a candlelight vigil at the Governor’s Mansion. Show the Governor the moral light and urge him to reject these pipelines once and for all. \nWe’ll gather on Governor’s Street behind the mansion and make our way over together. SUMMARY:People's Pipeline Protest - Prayer Vigil
DESCRIPTION:Join the People’s Pipeline Protest\, September 13-14\, 2017\, organized by Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN). \nTwo days of spirited\, creative protests at seven key Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) offices statewide to stop two fracked-gas pipelines. Help CCAN say NO at locations in Virginia Beach\, Roanoke\, Harrisonburg\, Richmond\, Abingdon\, Glen Allen\, or Woodbridge. \nWednesday\, September 13th – On day one\, just after Hurricane Irma is expected to blow through our land\, faith leaders and spiritual elders will hold prayer vigils on the public sidewalks outside the DEQ offices in Virginia Beach\, Roanoke\, Harrisonburg\, Richmond\, Abingdon\, Glen Allen\, or Woodbridge. We have interest from spiritual leaders of many faiths\, including Christian\, Muslim\, and indigenous leaders who will offer prayers and meditations for the Governor as he makes a decision of historic consequences very soon. Some venues will include sacred and ancient water ceremonies. \nMore information\, including background information on why we need to do this (do you know about the PH3 trio?). \nLocations of the seven DEQ offices around Virginia.
